RE: 06 Ford Expedition

We towed a 6,000lb. trailer with our 2003 Expedition all over the west coast with no problems. Had we stuck with that combination, I would have replaced the tires with LT's to stiffen it up, a bit. Like kknowlton says above, I would recommend going much heavier than this.
good luck!

RE: Clear as mud

Some of the beaches, like Morro Strand, have a 24' limit (or less). We camped with a 26' TT all over NorCal and never had a problem. Our current rig is a little over 27 feet long, with a slide, and we still don't have any problems. We only camp at the county/state/federal parks.
good luck!

RE: Stopped up Quickie Flush

Wow, first time I've heard of that. It's held on by 3 (if I remember correctly) self-tapping screws and the flange is sealed to the tank with silicon. After removing the screws, use a hair-dryer to soften the silicon and you should be able to pry the old one out. You might try to work some fishing line under the flange (a couple pieces of dowel for handles), to cut through the silicon, before trying to pry it up with a screwdriver.
good luck!

RE: I-5 in January

We have never had to chain-up, over Christmas/New Years - although it was real close last year (just beat a big storm by a day). You are going to have to be prepared for anything, from Redding to Roseburg. Two years ago we crested the Siskiyou summit on August 30th and it was sleeting.
good luck!

RE: Onan Exhaust Fumes at the Wrong Time

Shoot! Can you post a picture of where the Onan exhaust comes out? One reason I have not sprung for a Genturi is that I'm worried exhaust fumes would come back down through the vents.

RE: picked up a Yamaha EF2400iS generator locally for $600

Sweet deal! Yes, I always thought ours was a bit loud, too. Not obnoxiously loud, but not something that you want to have running while you're sitting around the campfire.

RE: Crater Lake

I prefer to setup camp once, so I'd be inclined to go straight to Diamond Lake. Natural Bridge is a few miles south of Union Creek on Hwy. 62 - definitely worth seeing. A little further south, at the Prospect access road, are a couple of nice water falls; Mill Creek Falls and Barr Creek Falls.
Have a good time!

RE: comparing rvs

30,000 hard miles and counting - lol
Picking a model really depends on your individual requirements; ours were 28' length (max for our pad at home and the kind of camping we do), a full-length QB (I'm 6' 3"), big fresh water tank (we don't camp w/ hookups) and sleeping for 5.
good luck!

RE: sf bay area to oregon coast?

The KOA in Willits is standard KOA. If you have kids, they'll dig it (pool, petting zoo, old-west decor, ice cream, etc.). Best thing about the KOA there is that the Skunk Train will stop and pick you up, so you can spend an afternoon in Fort Bragg if you want.
